Plaids and Stripes
So, uh, pretend I didn't post until 9:22pm because I was just so dreading the end of color week. Which is true. But not really the reason.
Here, some plaids and stripes:

Portfolio Day is the reason I haven't posted until now. It's tomorrow in San Francisco. I've been gathering all of my work and making it sort of presentable. I've been to Kinko's twice today. I think I may have worn out my welcome on the second visit. Poor guys.

Color Week: Blue
Friday, May 2, 2008
Fridays are Blue
Ah, the last day of color week. Prepare yourselves for some serious blue:
Another drawing, age 4. It must have been a series. I discovered this one on the back of the pink ballerina

I spent the day at a coffee shop, doing homework. There's ample handicapped parking

My mom bought a wooden oar and asked a family friend to paint it

An old heater

Reflections
So, I stepped out on a limb with this Color Week thing, something I would never normally do. I tend to keep to myself in this busy internet world. You know what? I've been so inspired by it. Not just with my own heightened observations but with seeing everyone else's creativity. Everyone involved is unique and talented. They approach life from different perspectives, different locations, situations and mindsets. It's just so beautiful. I can't wait until the next one!
Pink and Red Thursday
Well, color week is drawing to a close. Just one more day left.
Saving these for a rainy day
I drew this when I was four. I especially like those sexy knees. I can't tell if she has a mustache and she's singing or if she just has a really big lip.
Some nick knacks in the kitchen. That tomato is an old pull cord toy that plays music. The eyes move back and forth. Creepy?
Some berries on a curtain
Checker board, also for a rainy day.

This color day was a labor of love. You see, it's Springtime and my allergies are having a party in my nose. It kind of feels like they invited cold and flu as well and they're trashing up the joint. No respect. None at all.

We need to make up a word to rhyme with orange.
A post even later than yesterday. Sorry friends.
We took a little trip while out and about with my aunts. An old rail car.
What? Another art flier?! Yes please.
Construction everywhere. Our little town isn't so little anymore
Frozen yogurt with a bit of topping on the side.

This color week thing is starting to take over my life. I can't go anywhere without looking frantically for colors. It's at once a curse and a blessing. A curse because I can't get a moment's peace. A blessing because it's making me ridiculously observant. If I'm ever a witness to a crime, I will be able to tell you exactly what colors were involved.
Tomorrow, pink and red. I'm already scheming.

Monday is Green!
Here are my humble contributions to Curious Bird's week of color. Monday is green:
An Irish whistle that sounds beautifully haunting when an Irishman plays it and a bit like a dying bird when I play it.
One of the only mildly successful wheel thrown objects from last semester (it's lopsided, but you didn't hear that from me). My mom claimed and painted it.

Our church had a Swap Shop on Saturday: bring your old "treasures" and swap them for someone else's old "treasures". My mom got this great hat box.
In other news, Winston Randall IV came out of the kiln this morning and he's doing great. Sniff. He's all grown up and moving on to glazing.
Post Script: Something in my house smells like a hot eraser. You know the kind that has just erased something violently? I think it's my dinner. I love that smell. Erasers, newly sharpened pencils, crayons, glue...sigh. Childhood.
